Another patient testimonial brought to you by the Modern Nose Clinic.
Dr. Skarada:
Okay, this is Doug Skarada with the Modern Nose Clinic, and this is one of my long-standing patients. I'm gonna miss her sorely as she is moving off to Florida; the great state of Florida. So, Joyce, would you mind telling me, has the oral appliance been a good experience for you or not?
Joyce:
Way better than the machine.
Dr. Skarada:
You had to use CPAP before, and that was a challenge.
Joyce:
Yeah, I thought I was choking to death or being-
In unison:
-suffocated.
Dr. Skarada:
Yeah. And so – and now you're able to get a good night's sleep wearing your oral appliance?
Joyce:
Yeah, I dream all the time, too. I never used to dream.
Dr. Skarada:
That is a good thing. As it turns out, 25% of your body's energy is consumed in the brain, and yet it only represents 2% of the body, so it runs hot all day long, and when you sleep is when you're actually healing your brain, so getting a good night's sleep will protect you from things like Alzheimer's disease and memory disorder; we definitely want to do that. So.
Joyce:
Good, because my memory is a little bit questionable.
Dr. Skarada:
Well, Joyce, you have the best adventure in Florida. Okay?
Joyce:
I will. I will. But that's like cleaning my regular – my old Invisalign. You know, when you throw 'em in the thing and soak 'em a little bit, scrub a little bit, it'll brush it right off.
Dr. Skarada:
See, Joyce is mentioning that keeping these things clean is really easy. With the CPAP, she's worried about mold and the circuits; you have to throw them out and buy new circuits every couple of months or so, but the oral appliance is relatively simple. Is that correct?
Joyce:
That is correct.
Dr. Skarada:
Anything else?
Joyce:
It's comfortable.
Dr. Skarada:
That's good to hear, too. That's good.
Joyce:
Doesn't bother me a bit!
Dr. Skarada:
All right. All right! Signing off! Modern Nose Clinic.
Joyce felt that her oral appliance was more comfortable, was easy to take care of, easy to clean, required no disposables, and was successful for her. Thank you.
